Above photo shows the DAR streamer with the slogan “The CARE for the Farmers only Chance Out of Poverty is in our BLOOD” written on it hung outside the fence of the provincial capitol so that walk-in donors will also be inspired to donate blood.

PARO II Andre B. Atega, who voluntarily presented himself to get involved in this noble cause to donate blood to save the lives.

DAR-Agusan del Norte (Nov. 12) - - The Department of Agrarian Reform, Provincial Office of Agusan del Norte and the Bombo Radio Butuan, joined hands in conducting blood-letting activity as part of its community outreach program held at Capitol Training Center on November 8, 2008.

PARO II Andre B. Atega, one of the blood donors said that: “I was once a recipient of blood donation from unknown persons. But our participation now is not just out of eternal gratitude for the people who saved my life in 1976 but as an expression that for CARP extension we in DAR like the farmers in Mendiola are willing to shed our blood.”

Further, PARO II Atega in justifying the campaign stated that “Blood donation is akin to land distribution in the sense that it is an act of giving to the needy what we have in excess of.”

Health program is one of DAR’s intervention in the ARCs. Specifically, distribution of PhilHealth cards through partnership with the People’s Organization (PO) and PhilHealth, Inc. and granting of Solar Powered Vaccine Fridge in remote areas are among the specific health services provided by DAR to the farmers & Indigenous Peoples (IPs).
